Saint Louis Art Museum
The Saint Louis Art Museum is one of the leading art museums in the nation today. In fact, more than half a million people visit this beautiful Museum in Forest Park every year.
The Art Museum dates back to the early years of this century, when famed architect Cass Gilbert designed the building as the only permanent structure of the 1904 World’s Fair. A massive 13-year, $32 million renovation has today restored the beauty and grandeur of the original structure.
The Art Museum offers much to both the first-time and frequent visitors. Most important is the permanent collection, which attracts art lovers from all over the world. Its collections range from ancient to contemporary and feature masterpieces of Asian art, art of the Renaissance, Impressionism and American art. Some of its collections — including the pre-Columbian and German Expressionist collections — are ranked among the best in the world.
