Albany Institute of History & Art
We are now updating all of our schedules for the 2001-2002 season. We have no event listings for this organization for one of two reasons: we have requested updates and they will be added as soon as we receive them, or the organization is currently not producing events. (Many organizations operate only seasonally.) Please check back in the future, as our calendar is updated daily and new events are posted as soon as they are received. Thank you. MORE…

Church of the Holy Sepulchre
Church of the Holy Sepulchre

3D visualization of Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Recognized by the Christian community as the site of Jesus Christ’s tomb, the Sepulchre is under a major renovation. As part of the project ART111 Design has been commissioned to provide a 3D model with rendered views for design considerations.
Jay Jacobson’s latest fractal art:

frac·tal
Pronunciation: frak-t’l
Function: noun
Etymology: French fractale, from Latin fractus broken, uneven
(past participle of frangere, to break) + French -ale -al (noun suffix)
Date of first use: 1975
: Any of various extremely irregular curves or shapes for which any suitably chosen part
is similar in shape to a given larger or smaller part when magnified or reduced to the
same size.
Fractal art is the visual
depiction of complex mathematical equations.
Fractal geometry is to a
digital artist as a brush is to a painter: a tool for the expression of visual ideas.
The images in these galleries are snapshots from one artist’s vision of a place he calls Fractal Land. It’s a world in which fractal geometry dictates reality, from geography to biology, just as the laws of physics dictate the reality of your familiar everyday world.
We hope you enjoy your journey to Fractal Land, where Fractalism™ rules.
Stratocaster Model
The Fender “Stratocaster” Guitar, modeled and rendered for usage in multimedia applications and print media. The entire guitar has been modeled in a 3D environment and texture-mapped to provide multiple views or even animation sequences.

Smiling Monkey
Smiling Monkey

Why is this fractal monkey so happy?
Because he’s only three iterations away from an infinite number of fractal bananas!
Fractal Volcano

Traveling in Fractal Land can be hazardous. In a few especially chaotic regions, molten equations seep through to the surface.
About the Artist
For over 30 years, Jay Jacobson has been an innovator in the visual arts.

At first using digital technology to correct and enhance photographs, Jay added graphic design, video production, and product development to his repertoire of technical skills. In time, as the capabilities of computer workstations grew, he became ever more attracted by the computer’s potential for creating entire virtual worlds.
