The Austin Museum of Art (AMOA) is committed to creating learning opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds through exhibition tours, outreach programs, family activities, and innovative adult programming. AMOA’s two locations — AMOA-Downtown and AMOA-Laguna Gloria — create Austin’s leading visual arts institution. Opened in November 1996, AMOA-Downtown occupies 12,000 square feet on the ground floor of the 823 Congress Avenue building. Clara Driscoll donated AMOA’s original site in Laguna Gloria to the citizens of Texas in 1943.

The collection at AMOA-Downtown offers residents and visitors alike the opportunity to view significant exhibitions representing diverse artistic expressions from throughout the world, with a focus on art produced in the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean. AMOA-Laguna Gloria’s collection is known for its program of diverse art exhibitions, sculpture gardens, educational programs, and the acclaimed Art School. Exhibitions here are regularly displayed in the Mediterranean-style villa, which is located on fourteen verdant acres on the banks of Lake Austin.
